We guessed correctly. We attended a Verizon conference call today where the company took the wraps off their new symmetrical 20Mbps tier. We were the first to report on the existence of the new tier last week, after NYC trial participants spotted it in the wild. According to Verizon, the company has launched the 20Mbps symmetrical service in the NY/NJ/CT markets, with additional market launches on the horizon.

The service starts around $64.99 a month, depending on bundle and contract options. According to the company's press release, the new tier comes with 1GB of online storage. Residential symmetrical fiber isn't exactly a groundbreaking concept, but Verizon is the first major ISP with plans of national deployment.

Beginning next month, Comcast customers who subscribe to stand-alone cable service will see their monthly bill increase by nearly 5 percent - the second rate boost this year.

The Bay Area's dominant cable provider, with 1.7 million subscribers locally, said the increase - which goes into effect Nov. 15 - is needed to pay for new products, improvements in customer service and upgrades to the regional infrastructure.

In the Beginning of next year I was Originally going switch over ATT U-Verse from Comcast. But now Comcast Raising their  Rates yet again this year. Might decide to jump ship earlier if my cable bill rises by more than five bucks.

Comcast made the list of bad ISPs last year which was released to let users know who was guilty of BitTorrent throttling. Comcast was guilty of preventing seeding which is an aggressive form of throttling; it’s now becoming a widespread problem amongst Comcast users. Most Comcast users can’t upload to peers at all because of prevention by the Sandvine application. Some users can connect to a select few peers but have super slow upload speeds. A small number of users are also reporting problems with decreased download speeds. This is yet another thing for Comcast customers to be unhappy about.

Right now I am on comcast HSI Performance Plus: 8000 kbps / 768 kbps : $52.95 A mouth plan. I. In pass couple of weeks I have not notice any degradation of download or upload of speed. But as of today I am currently running utorrent 1.7.2 seeding the show 'Lab with Leo' #063. And everytime someone tries connects to me. After five seconds or so, the Connections drops.

If this weekend, Comcast of San Jose, Ca has roll out Sandvine solution to ruin the BT usability Experience for their paying consumers base. Certainly this is one Business decision that will to drive Comcast HSI users to Cancel their Net access for another provider.

With Out any News or Fanfare. (No Press Releases, No Ads, No Promos, No posts on KICU website, No red light messages from cable box) Comcast in SF/SJ Oakland has added KICU HD 36 On Ch 706 Today. I do find it strange, why Comcast would had ever add KICU HD to their line up? I am guesting its for the A's telecasts in HD. Since they are Ind. station, 95% of the time they are broadcast in SDTV. Comcast should of have reverse this space for Cable channel that broadcast 24/7 in HDTV.
